I have some old Ghost images of a PC hard drive that has files I need to retrieve. I know that on Windows you can use Ghost Explorer to view inside and extract from Ghost images, but I can't find anything similar for Mac on Google. Norton Ghost is a tool from Symantec which provides one's files and folders with a high level of protection, through advanced back-up and recovery. ![]() Ghost Explorer can restore individual files and folders from an image file to a location you specify on the hard disk. For instructions on extracting and restoring files or folders from a Ghost image file, navigate to one of the following sections: Norton Ghost 2003 • Open Ghost Explorer: • Click Start, and then Programs. Note that in Windows XP, this option is 'All Programs' rather than 'Programs.' • Click Norton Ghost 2003, and then Norton Ghost. • Click Ghost utilities, and then Norton Ghost Explorer • Open the image file: • Click File, and then Open. • Navigate to the location of the image file. • Click the file name, and then click Open. Ghost Explorer opens the image file displaying the partition names on the left pane and the folders and files on the right pane. • Restore the file or folder: • Right-click the name of the file or folder that you want to extract. You see a short menu. Ghost Explorer opens the image file displaying the partition names on the left pane and the folders and files on the right pane. • Restore the file or folder: • Right-click the name of the file or folder that you want to extract. You see a short menu. If you are restoring multiple files, click Use Default Names so that all selected files retain their current file name. • Close Ghost Explorer.
